I have been dealing with diabetes since I was diagnosed nearly 14 years ago. Like many of you I knew nothing about diabetes when I was diagnosed. Using the internet I tried to learn as much as I could about a disease that I will have the remainder of my life. Today besides living with diabetes, it is also my sole business.
Although there are thousands of diabetes related web sites I found the majority of these sites as condescending towards adults with diabetes. Diabetes is something we live with 24 hours a day 365 days a year, there is no time off. From my work with Diabetic Investor I also found that adults with diabetes are lacking a non-biased source of information. Sadly many of the physicians who treat diabetes are ill-equipped to deal with the disease.
My hope is that we, adults with diabetes, can help each other.
I encourage your posts and welcome any suggestions to help make Diabetes Real World a valuable resource.
Finally I am strong believer in full disclosure as such everyone should know that I am currently using the OmniPod insulin management system to treat my diabetes. My insulin of choice is NovoLog. My current meter is FreeStyle.
